Hackathon Participation Agreement

Last updated October 23, 2026

By joining Hack the Earth at AGU26 events or submitting an app to the Science Exchange Showcase, you agree to the following. You must accept this agreement before your first submission.

1. Who can take part

Anyone may submit, whether or not they attend the AGU26 workshop, town hall, or showcase session. Teams should choose one person to submit on their behalf and credit teammates in the description.

2. What you submit

3. Ownership and license to display

You keep all rights to your work. You give the Hack the Earth organizers and AGU permission to display your app name, description, image, and link on this site, in AGU26 sessions, and in related communications about the events.

4. Responsible and ethical use

5. Community conduct

Keep comments constructive and respectful. Participation in AGU26 events is subject to AGU's code of conduct and scientific integrity policies. Harassment, spam, vote manipulation, or misleading content are not allowed.

6. Moderation

Organizers may edit for formatting, hide, or remove submissions and comments that break this agreement or are inappropriate, and may decline to feature any submission in a live session.

7. No warranty

Showcased apps are provided by their creators "as is." The organizers and AGU do not endorse or guarantee third-party apps, and are not responsible for content on linked sites.

8. Changes

We may update this agreement; the date above shows the latest version. Continued participation means you accept the update.
